LOS ANGELES, CA, March 4, 2016 — The 5th annual Miss Russian Los Angeles beauty pageant will be held on March 4th at the Taglyan Complex Hollywood located at 1201 Vine Street, Los Angeles, CA 90038.Red carpet interviews begin at 7:00 PM with the 90-minute pageant starting at 8:00 PM. The Miss Russian LA Pageant identifies Russian women who exemplify beauty, talent and intelligence. Press credentials are still available.The pageant is open to any qualified female at least 18 years old, having a California residency and the ability to speak Russian. The final 10 contestants have already been selected from over 50 applicants and have been in rehearsals for over a month. The finalists will be judged in four separate categories: evening gown, talent, bikini, and interview. The Evential School, a LA-based modeling and acting educational institution, provides necessary training to the finalists. The evening gown portion and the other collections will be overseen by Russia’s Top fashion designers. “I founded this event to showcase new talent in our community. It’s not only a beauty pageant but also a very entertaining talent show,” said Lika Osipova, Producer & Director of Miss Russian LA. “We have really stepped it up this year. We have wonderful sponsors and an impressive panel of judges.” Among the distinguished panelists invited: U.S. Representative Adam Schiff for California’s 28th congressional district; Producer of Sony PicturesNick Light, Television producer, manager of Howie Mandel- Rich Thurber. Previous attendees include: Mickey Rourke, American actor; Larry Namer, Founder of E! Entertainment Television, mayor of West Hollywood Jeffrey Prang.
Last year the occasion took place at a popular place- Sofitel Hotel Beverly Hills- has homed many red carpet events in the past, movie premiers such as American Hustle with Jennifer Lawrence and other events from launch parties to corporate events. It was a prestigious place and perfect location to hold Miss Russian LA. The event has a 200+ person capacity and tickets sold out, 2 months in advance. To enter this event, it isn’t cheap, each ticket is from 150 dollars, which includes the best Russian cuisine and beverages and professional guest performers that fill the short breaks between the segments of the contest, so it is a great night out that people look forward to. This Time we have a bigger location, the event will have more than 350 guests, plus it will be broadcast to the nationwide channel “USArmenia” TV, which is mean that all who participate in this show will get a great publicity. Olga Kovalenko, the reigning queen served as an ambassador this past year representing the Los Angeles-based Russian community at numerous public speaking engagements, fundraisers and civic events. There are an estimated 600,000 Russian-speaking people in Southern California. Furthermore, West Hollywood’s Russian-speaking community is the most concentrated single Russian-speaking community in the United States outside of New York and consists primarily of immigrants from different Republics of the former Soviet Union such as: Russian Federation, Ukraine, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus, Latvia, Uzbekistan, etc.
